Abigail will be a scholar and an artist

We gave Abigail a Canadian style birthday party on Friday, but because a few of my guests were Korean we were able to put her through one of the typical Korean rituals.

One of the Korean customs is to place several symbolic objects in front of the new 1 year old as a sort of fortune telling. As you can see in this video we placed; a pencil, an artist's brush, some money, a ball of thread, and a wrench in front of her.

If she chose the ball of thread it would mean long-life. The pencil denotes that she would become a scholar.

In the end she chose the pencil and the brush at the same time, and so she will become an artist and a scholar.
