The bus to Itaewon, Myeong-Dong and Gwanghwamun subway stations from Suji.

Many new foreigners in Suji have trouble at first with reading Korean letters. So here is a rundown of one of the best buses that runs through downtown Suji. You can catch the bus at the first major stop on the main drag before the McDonald's (it runs every 10 or 15 minutes). Walk from the McDonald's past Maddogs, past Bitel and Baskin Robbins. Cross the street toward the LG25 convenience store and then cross the intersection again to the busstop where you can catch the 5500(Itaewon, MyeongDong, YWCA, Jogyesa (a buddhist temple in Insadong) and Gwanghwamun stations City Arts Centre), 1550(Gangnam), 1115-3(Jamsil) and many more. The bus is much faster than the subway unless the streets are in gridlock.

5500 Suji to Seoul
Going to Itaewon: Ring the bell when the bus crosses the Han river (extremely wide river 30 to 40 minutes out of Suji). The bus stops just past the Danguk University which is just past a major street full of many embassies for India, Mexico and etc. From here catch the taxi the first time so you can get an idea of where to go, or continue walking in the direction the bus was going and make the next left. Then go straight until you hit Itaewon (about 15 to 20 minutes on foot).

The next stops are:

the far end of Myeong dong,
the YWCA at Jong Gak subway station
Jogyesa a buddhist temple in Insadong
GwangHwaMun subway station (The city arts centre).

Here are the stops in Korean in case you want to look for them while in Seoul:
한남동 단국대학교, 중앙극장, 종각역 YMCA, 조계사, 광화문역
세종문화회관, 삼성프라자, 서울역, 롯데백화점
All of the buses have their routes and schedules on: click on the "city bus" link.

Returning home, just catch the bus on the opposite side of the street. The 5500 runs at least until 12:30am. Alternatively the 9103 will take you to Migeum station as late as 1:30 or 2am and you can catch a taxi for about 4000 won to downtown Suji. If you aren't in the best condition to walk back to the busstop from Itaewon tell the taxi driver to take you to Hannam Dong or DanGuk DaeHakkyo.
